Beautifully gruesome Japanese monsters

I found myself downloading a shit load of Japanese super-sentai monster images the other day. Particularly the monsters designed during the 1960's and 1970's. This era really fascinates me because a lot of these creatures are truly grotesque and this was still considered children's entertainment. The monsters designed during my time weren't as gruesome as these, at least, I don't remember them being this gruesome. It's probably the drug scene in that era and how it affected the artists who were in charge of designing these creatures that really made them so beautifully weird. Even the costumes on the heroes that are sprinkled here and there in this post have more vibrant costumes, not restricted to looking "realistic" like the costumes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe; they look like heroes from a comic, and that's how it should be in my opinion.

It's all in the eyes tho. If you pay close attention to all of the costumes on display, the creatures and costumes that really standout have very specific eyes.

Zontar will probably enjoy this post.
